Boeing 314? On a Boeing 314, a trip from San Francisco to Hawaii would take forever.
2 :
It took some 14 hours to fly SFO to HNL in a Boeing 314 - That would have been the 1939-1945 era with PanAm - By the way, the distance is 2,300 nautical miles - Their cruise speed was 160 knots -

what happens if our flight is delayed

what happens if our flight is delayed?
so we have three flights....one going to san francisco and the other going to frankfurt. our layover time in san francisco will only be 47 minutes. there is going to be a thunderstorm....so what if our flight to san francisco gets delayed and we become late or miss our next flight? what will we do? i mean, its the dang weather's fault!

The airline will usually try to make accommodations to get you on another flight or even in rare cases, the connecting flight could be held when they know there are a large number of passengers coming in yet.
2 :
Not a problem if you have all of your flights booked at the same time with the same airline. They know if their own flights are delayed and will arrange accordingly. If it you are connecting with another airline you will have to contact them and they will work to get you another flight. But it will take time. *
3 :
its your negligence for only having a 47 minute connection!! if your first flight is a domestic flight (departs and lands in the USA), you will miss your second plane by over an hour, regardless of weather!

Flight from New York to San Francisco (round trip)

Flight from New York to San Francisco (round trip)?
Hello everybody, I live in Italy. On Saturday I will take a flight from Rome to New York. Then I will need to arrive in San Francisco but I have not yet bought the flight's tycket. I do not know which alternative is the most affordable: 1) to buy now online the tycket; 2) to buy the tycket on Saturday, when I will be in New York, at the airport or in a travel agency. Which alternative is the best? If you suggest to buy online the tyckets, can you indicate some sites or air companies? Thanks
Air Travel - 5 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Neither is the "best" alternative. It wold almost certainly have been cheaper to buy the whole trip together. Failing that it would have been cheaper to have booked the onward portion in advance. At this point, it may or may not be cheaper to book now, but if you don't book now you may find that the flight you want is full.
2 :
I agree with Neil that it is better if you booked everything together. Buying tickets separately is generally more expensive. You can see how much it costs to fly on JetBlue or Virgin America. Those are the best airlines to fly across the United States.
3 :
You will need to book the ticket as soon as possible. Use your usual travel agent or on-line site, for example http://www.expedia.com. As this is very close to your needed departure in NYC you will have limited cheap options. Jetblue has just now roundtrip tickets for 400-500 USD from JFK-LAX. Do take care that NYC has several airports and it will take time to transfer between them.
4 :
i suggest you buy the ticket now, because. New york to San Francisco is a hot route, you cant possibly get a good deal if you buy it at the airport or in a travel agency. they will take advantage of you, since you are there at last minute, and you'll have to pay too much. and if you catch a flight on Sunday to San Fran. $683 roundtrip on www.cheapoair.com return on 8/12 if you modify, you might recieve a cheaper price.
5 :
there are quite a few sites that you can search that will likely give you the best prices available. check out the website BookMe and you will be able to compare prices on all the reputable travel sites in just a couple minutes. it's very convenient and will save you a bunch of time and money. Also, make sure you buy them online... otherwise they charge much higher fees for phone orders. good luck.

Park and Stay Hotels at San Francisco International Airport (SFO)

Park and Stay Hotels at San Francisco International Airport (SFO)?
I will be catching a flight out of San Francisco International Airport (SFO) next month. Since I live about two hours from SFO and since I have an early morning flight, I need to stay at a hotel close to SFO. I heard that some of the SFO hotels have a Park and Stay program. Does anyone have any experience with this? Can anyone recommend a quality hotel that is close to SFO that has this program without killing my travel budget?

Here are the park/sleep/fly hotels. It's open 24 hours a day and costs $14/day. http://www.flysfo.com/web/page/parking/options/long-term/

Visa required to Taiwan in a connection flight

Visa required to Taiwan in a connection flight?
I'm from Brazil. Next february I will flight from San Francisco to Bangkok via Air China, with a 5-hour stop in Taipei for changing planes. I will not leave the airport. Do I need a VISA? It seems very hard to find the answer in the Internet.

If you check the IATA database which is used by aircraft carriers to determine the required documents of their passengers you will get the following result: TWOV (Transit Without Visa): Visa required, except for those passengers continuing their journey to a third country by the same or connecting aircraft on the same day of their arrival, provided: a. holding tickets with confirmed seats and other travel documents required for their onward journey; and b. not leaving the transit lounge unless under observation of an immigration guard. Passengers arriving after midnight must be escorted by the carrier to the transit hotel. If passengers want to stay in the transit lounge permission from the police bureau must be obtained (to be arranged by the carrier); and c. the receiving carrier is advised of the passengers' names and connecting flight number and destination, prior to passengers' arrival. (When passengers' manifest is dispatched by cable, the code of "TWOV" should be marked together with the connecting flight number and destination. For connection the time interval of at least 60 minutes is necessary, and TWOV shall not be granted for connection less than 60 minutes. Source(s): http://www.klm.com/travel/ch_en/travel_information/travel_planning/travel_clinic/visaform.htm
2 :
No, you do not need a visa for connecting flight within 24 hours by staying inside the transit zone or area in Taipei Taoyuan Int Airport.
3 :
No, you don't need a visa for changing flights since you are not "entering" the country. However, you can only stay within the transit zones. Should you try to "enter" Taiwan by going through the customs, you will need a visa. By the way, I believe you are taking "China Airlines"; not "Air China". China Airlines is a Taiwanese airline while Air China is a Chinese airline. I don't believe Air China is allowed to stop over in Taiwan.
4 :
Just very directly answer your question: NO visa required.

I am not sure. Is there a layover to change planes in Hawaii? When I flew home from the Viet Nam era it took nine hours from Japan to Frisco.
3 :
18 hours
4 :
14 hours and 45 minutes nonstop on United. You will get a better fare, and have a nicer flight (with meals and such), if you take Hawaiian. You can also layover in Honolulu if you wish. Hawaiian leaves Sydney three days a week ... Sunday, Wednesday and Friday ... and gets to Honolulu about 10:00 AM the same day. All the west coast flights depart about 1:00 PM. Try the digE players. The flight from Sydney to Honolulu is about 9 1/2 hours. Add about 5 hours more to SF, San Jose or Sacramento.

What happens if I wanna stay a bit in the city of my connecting flight

What happens if I wanna stay a bit in the city of my connecting flight?
So im going to Los Angeles from Dallas on Virgin America Airlines..so the flight back home to Dallas makes a connecting flight in San Francisco .. i'd actually like to stay a day or two in San Francisco .. so how could I make this happen?Say I missed my connecting flight in San Fran and just stay and pay a fee? or??? Thanks alot in advance! I mean.. of course though without paying for an extra ticket lol
Air Travel - 3 Answers

1 :
you could purposely miss the flight and pay for a new ticket or something when you arrive, but try too contact the airline to see if you could just change the second leg of the flight to a few days later. or just cancel the flight and re-book it as 2 separate flights
2 :
If you've already bought your ticket, your choices are limited. You can try to reschedule your flight which may or may not be changeable and normally requires a fee and possibly any difference in fares or depending on the restrictions on your present ticket, cancel and get a refund. It's probably best not to skip your flight, call Virgin America and ask them what your options are and how much the costs is, then make your decision.
3 :
Don't plan on NOT paying any extra costs! Airlines are struggling to make $$ with the cost of fuel increasing daily. If you lay over and leave the flight with an empty seat, that costs the carrier money. If you want to stay over, contact the carrier and see what their fees are. Delta stuck me really good once when I laid over an extra night in New Orleans. They popped me for $375 or so for a 1st-class ticket up to Atlanta the next morning! I almost croaked! CHECK WITH YOUR CARRIER!!!

HOW FAST ARE YOU GOING TO BE FLYING ? YOU ON A HANG GLIDER OR IN 747 ?
3 :
well since there are no nonstop flights this means you have to make a connection the fastest on British airways you would have to change planes in london] this routing is 13 hours
4 :
According to FlightAware.com, the exact flight time is 11 hours and 46 minutes (from Zurich since there are no non-stop flights from Geneva). Have a great trip!
5 :
12 Hours
6 :
There are no direct flights to San Francisco from Geneva so you must connect through a larger city which would probably be in London or Washington DC depending on your airlines. British Airways offers the quickest flights from Geneva to SFO via London. The total flight time including connection time would be 13hrs 30minutes, give or take a few quarter hours. If your tight on money, keep in mind that quicker flights usually cost much more than other flights requiring more time consumption. The cheapest flight I could flight from October is $510 however it involves two connection cities (Madrid & Chicago) and has a total travel time upwards of 21 hours. So it's all up to you! I'd give a range of 13-24 hours depending on luck and money.

how long is the flight from nyc to san francisco

how long is the flight from nyc to san francisco?

New York City - 10 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
bout an hour
2 :
like 7-9 hours, i was like 11 last time i went to cali
3 :
in my estimates, it'd be about 4 hours, because it takes 3 to get to Minneapolis, so I'd add an extra hour for an extra time zone. just my personal estimate.
4 :
Around 5-6hours if it is non-stop. Remember there is a 3 hour time change but you will still be traveling arouund 5-6 hours.
5 :
6h 18min to 6h 50min.
6 :
There is a head wind (wind blows form West to Wast) going to San Francisco so the trip will take six hours and thirty minutes. Coming back, there is a tail wind so it will only take five hours and thirty minutes. More fuel is used going West and it is one of the reasons why oneway tickets going west usualy cost a bit more that tickets coming East. Hope that helps.
7 :
An hour, wow.... I went form nyc to oakland (they're right next to each other) It could take 7-8 hours. i recommend a plane with a tv. you'll be on for a LONG time. Jetblue has tv's, but it doesn't go to san fran, it goes to oakland. i recommend you do that.
8 :
It actually depends, but generally, it's about 6 or 7 hours. I take a JetBlue flight all the time from JFK to SJC and I've made it in less than 6 hours because there was little headwind, but it could take as much as 7 if the wind is strong. Also, if you travel during "rush hour", weekday mornings, you'll sit on the runway for a while which won't impact your time in the air but will impact total time.
9 :
I would say the flight from JFK New York to San Francisco is anywhere from 5 to 51/2 Hours. With a 3 hour time change. It is 3 Hours earlier in San Francisco, Calif then New York, NY. Have a great trip! Gerard
10 :
6-7 hours depending on weather conditions which can cause delay, and whether it is a non stop flight. Generally it is a full day of travel. I've made that flight many times.

fly to drive to las vegas? from San Francisco

fly to drive to las vegas? from San Francisco?
ill be flying into san francisco mid-june to go on a trip with my boyfriend. We wanted to go Las Vegas for 4 or 5 days but not sure if we should drive or fly. its a 8 1/2 hour drive and mapquest estimated gas at about $80. we'd loose both a day and a night for driving and sleeping. for flying, its $180 per person for a 4 hour flight. we'd have to pay for a checked bag but we could sleep on the plane. I heard that parking is free at hotels. is this true? The only reason i would want to fly is because we could sleep. but its so much more expensive and my flight to san francisco is already $550. what would you do? or what have you done? we dont really have a plan to look at other places in las vegas... and like the rest of the US, we're trying to save money. i know there are much shorter flights but i dont want to spend $400 on a flight i know there are much shorter flights but i dont want to spend $400 on a flight thutmose (i think that was youre name): good point! i would have never thought about the drive back. i figure we'll be so tired after spending 4 or 5 days there, we'll just want to rest. thank you!

I say drive because you and your boyfriend can spend some nice quality time with just the two of you on the road, it could be fun! I think it would be cheaper than flying, cause pretty much all you'll need is gas money. It shouldn't be that long of a trip so I say just go for the drive! The trip sounds super fun, have a good time!
2 :
You should drive since it costs less than flying. Plus, leave around like 10a.m. in the morning and when you get there 8 1/2 hours later, it will be 6:30p.m. If you do this, you don't have to worry about sleeping. And yes, hotels do have free parking. If you are gonna fly, you have to pay for the plane fare, car rentals, and you have to deal with all that airport hassles. Its gonna burn a hole in your wallet if you do that.
3 :
The flight from San Francisco to Vegas is an hour and half. Do not drive, you will be so tired when you get to Vegas it will ruin your vacation. It's much cheaper to fly. Check sites like Southwest airlines, Allegiant Air or US Airways. Also do a search on kayak engine. It will check all airlines going to Vegas and all major travel sites and return the cheapest fare. http://www.lasvegas-how-to.com/cheap-flights.php FYI: With Southwest Airlines, bags fly free
4 :
I would fly. The airport is really close to "the strip" so its pretty convenient and most of the stuff is on the strip or a few steps away from it so you could get around without a car too. Plus, my family has done the drive from San Francisco before and its actually a little longer than that (even if we don't really stop) Southwest airlines flies from all 3 bay area airports to Las Vegas airport and they don't charge for bags. You might be able to get a good deal if you book early enough.
5 :
If you drive it will be the BIGGEST mistake for you guys and you're going to start the trip off on a bad note! Distance wise, about 400 miles. Time-wise it takes about 6 hours-without traffic just to reach Los Angeles so imagine another 4-5 hours from there to reach las vegas?? If even if you do make it! Whats going to kill and bug you is after you had you're fun in vegas you're going to say damn, after you realize how much time it took you to get to vegas THE DRIVE BACK!! You should fly and re-think your trip. I mean really after you guys had you're fun, drinking, partying and dancing, do you really want to make that hike back to SF in a car? Thats going to be the last thing on you're mind. It could ruin the trip.
6 :

You can't pray in plane. "Praying passenger removed from San Francisco-bound flight"

You can't pray in plane. "Praying passenger removed from San Francisco-bound flight"?
A passenger who left his seat to pray in the back of a plane before it took off, ignoring flight attendants' orders to return, was removed by an airport security guard, a witness and the airline said. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080418/ap_on_re_us/praying_passenger By the way guys, don't kick my butt because I don't have any religion and I am not atheist. I just wanted to see a little fight between atheist an religious people but I hope that you read the whole article If you guys read the article, or the headline, you will see that yahoo maybe put it in the context of religion. However as all of you said, this guy violate a rule and it's not about religion. I am glad that all of you agree on that. It's good that you respond with maturity . Thumbs up for all of you.
Religion & Spirituality - 23 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Not during take off and landing. You have to remain seated and belted. Be sensible.
2 :
They chose to ignore the rules. If the Pope did that on a commercial flight, they'd kick him off too.
3 :
I don't care what religion you are. Pray before the plane takes off. The attendants have regulations they need to follow for the safety of ALL the passengers. Or pray quietly in your darn seat. *He* was standing during a time they needed to be seated.
4 :
That's ridiculous. There is no reason why he couldn't pray silently in his own seat.
5 :
Dont you have to be in your seat and be buckled in before takeoff and landing and during turbulence? Its a rule meant for the safety of the passengers. Couldnt he simply abide by them and wait until the plane was in the air or pray in his seat? This has more to do with violation of the rules than about religion.
6 :
It wasn't because he was praying. It was because the plane was about to take off and he disobeyed the flight attendants' orders.
7 :
You can't ignore the instructions of the flight crew. You cannot be standing when takeoff is imminent. It has nothing to do with WHAT he was doing, only that he wasn't doing what he was supposed to.
8 :
There's a difference in being forbidden to pray and not obeying safety requirements of the plane. No one told him he couldn't do it in his seat. You're not supposed to get up during take off, and it had nothing to do with his praying.
9 :
Because you're supposed to remain seated. It's not a matter of praying.
10 :
He shouldn't have gotten out of his seat and gone to the back of the plane to pray just before taking off. There are reasons for the rules, especially during landing and take off. He could have kept praying as he sat down.
11 :
It was for his safety. He could have prayed in his seat.
12 :
He wasn't removed because he was praying. He was removed because he ignored the flight attendants when they told him he had to return to his seat and buckle up for take off. He would have been removed had he decided to go to the bathroom during takeoff too and refused to return to his seat. All he had to do was wait til the pilot said seatbelts could be removed, THEN go pray if he wanted. Or do so in his seat.
13 :
Why couldn't the dude just pray from his seat? I think that they made the right decision in sending a message to him and the rest of the public to be respectful of the authority of those running the plane. I realize it was only a 2 minute prayer, but who knows what he would've done at 30,000 feet. I think a clear message was sent and I doubt he caused ANY problems on his way back home. REPOST: I nominate you for the Nobel Peace Prize! You just got all the theists and athiests to agree on something on R&S. Good job!
14 :
Talk about jumping to conclusions. Everyone has to remain seated when the plane takes off and lands and as instructed by the pilots and flight crew. A praying person does not have the special right to endanger his/her life and the lives of others.
15 :
The issue here was not that the passenger prayed but that they did not follow the instructions of the people in charge of the plane. God can hear prayer from your seat and is not encumbered by the fastened seatbelt.
16 :
and.... your question!?!?! FAA regulations come first on a plane. schedule your flights around your prayer times. why on earth should he have been allowed and hold up the entire airplane AND all subsequent flights?!
17 :
Don't be ridiculous, this isn't about religion. This is about a passenger willfully ignoring rules that are there for a reason. They were right to remove him.
18 :
You also can't pray by screaming, "OH, GOD, WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!! SAVE US LORD!!!!!".
19 :
So it's really more like "you can't ignore flight attendants' instructions", then.
20 :
Good. No one should be allowed to create a disturbance on a plane. It is to confined a space, and no way to get out, if this person had something else on his mind by creating a distraction over praying.
21 :
A regrettable misunderstanding, but the airline was correct. Why did he wait until just before take-off to start? That wasn't such a good idea. .
22 :
There is no law that says you cannot pray on a plane. But the exercise of your religion does not give you some special right to endanger other passengers. Everybody needs to be in their seat and belted in on take-off, otherwise if the plane gets into an accident, one person bouncing around the fuselage could easily injure other passengers.
23 :
Now, why do I believe there's a bit more about that story than you're leading on?? Be willing to bet the passanger suffered anxiety panic prior to flying, and the Pilot/crew determined it would be in his/her best interest to turn back. Oh, did I mention, I work at an Airport!

If I want to book a HK-San Francisco-HK flight in Sept., when is the cheapest time to book it online

If I want to book a HK-San Francisco-HK flight in Sept., when is the cheapest time to book it online?
Should I book it 1, 2, 3 months in advance? Because it's peak season from June-August (summer vacation), so I'm thinking if I book the flight as early as June, the airlines might still be jacking up the price since it is too early to book it. To answer the question, I'm booking online because I'm in China and I don't know any travel agencies here yet. And I thought it would be cheaper to book online coz there's cheap flight websites.

I would book it at least 2 months in advance. Airfare is constantly changing and with the price of oil rising all the time, the sooner you book the ticket, the better price you should be able to get. Also I think the HK-SFO route is pretty popular, especially during the summer. I will be flying Singapore Airlines from San Francisco with a stopover in Hong Kong and then onto Singapore. I think my flight is already booked solid since when I looked for my flight to check how much the ticket went up, my flight number did not show up.

The stores along the pier are nice, but they get old fast (I'm not much of a shopper) and the one really interesting store closed down (a Michael Goddard gallery). Personally I'm done after a couple of hours. Napa is very close by, you could drive (or take a bus if you really want to sample the wine). Lombard lane is cool (the zig zaggy one) but I don't think they let you drive down it anymore. Have fun! I just went again a couple of weeks ago. It's a cool city.

You have a rental car, so you can go on any number of daytrips within a two hour radius of San Francisco. As with New York City or Washington DC, you'll see a bunch of landmarks - the Golden Gate Bridge, Transamerica Building, Coit Tower, Chinatown Gate, Grace Cathedral, Lombard Street, the California Supreme Court, Palace of Fine Arts - just by driving around at random. So it would be redundant for me to suggest that you visit those. You're going to see them anyway. Head to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk (the "Coney Island" of the West Coast). http://www.beachboardwalk.com/ If you want a zoo with thrill rides, go to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. If you just want the thrill rides, drive down to Great America. http://www.sixflags.com/discoveryKingdom/ http://www.pgathrills.com/ For outdoors activities, head to Golden Gate Park (which has everything from horseback riding to archery). Or go for a hike in the Marin Headlands and Muir Woods. Some of the trees in Muir Woods are the size of 40 floor skyscrapers (among the tallest anywhere). Alcatraz is famous because of the prison. But going to a jail is depressing to some people. If you don't know if you'd like to tour Alcatraz, you should go to Angel Island instead. It is one of the more attractive harbor islands. And there's plenty of space for biking and hiking. http://www.blueandgoldfleet.com/Ferry/Angel/angelislandsummer051208102608.cfm If you're old enough to enjoy it, Wine Country is great for relaxation. Take a tour of the wineries. Or visit a spa. http://www.sonoma.com/ http://www.napavalley.org/

I would not miss Point Reyes, http://www.nps.gov/pore/ Napa Wine country, http://www.napavalley.com/wineries/ and Muir woods-http://www.visitmuirwoods.com/

be there by 6:00-6:15. make sure you have all your toiletries in a clear plastic bag and easily accessable. nothing in a bottle over like 2 ounces?? no water...wear comfortable shoes that are easy to slip off because they make you take them off. dont bring any knives or anything sharp.
2 :
Wake up at 4:00 am Eat ....etc check all your things wear comfortable clothes n shoes leave at around 5:00 Hope this helps
3 :
For Trans-Pacific flights, I would get there at least three hours like for International Flights. This will give you enough time to clear the Agricultural Inspection, Check-In Your Baggage, Clear TSA Security and have plenty of time to rest at the gate while waiting for your time to board. One-hour and a half is not sufficient amount of time! You will be rushing!!!

Detailed help needed! Connecting flights involving San Francisco, Las Vegas

Detailed help needed! Connecting flights involving San Francisco, Las Vegas.?
I've never done a connecting flight before, and this is a 21st Birthday trip so I really don't want it to be ruined by flight problems. I've read another yahoo answers question where everybody is saying 1 and a half hours is not enough time to do a connecting flight and i've panicked now because my return flight there is only about 45 minutes to get off the las vegas flight in chicago to catch my heathrow flight! I also want to know how the luggage works - i.e do you have to claim it at baggage arrivals in san francisco and then re-check it? Very worried! any help appreciated - my flight details are below: London (LHR) Depart 11:15 Terminal 1 to San Francisco (SFO) Arrive 14:20 Terminal I 5,352 mi (8,613 km) Duration: 11hr 5mn UA Flight: 955 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- San Francisco (SFO) Depart 16:09 Terminal 3 to Las Vegas (LAS) Arrive 17:53 Terminal 1 414 mi (666 km) Duration: 1hr 44mn UA Flight: 460 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sat 14-Nov-09 Las Vegas (LAS) Depart 14:45 Terminal 1 to Chicago (ORD) Arrive 20:20 Terminal 1 1,510 mi (2,430 km) Duration: 3hr 35mn UA -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sat 14-Nov-09 Chicago (ORD) Depart 21:07 Terminal 1 to London (LHR) Arrive 11:05 +1 day Terminal 1 3,941 mi (6,342 km) Duration: 7hr 58mn UA Flight: 938

I wouldn't be that much worried about your flight going to Vegas, even you have to change terminals I still I believe you can manage, just make sure you follow the signs and if can't find the spot ask quickly for help and by all means don't loose off with looking at some store or checking some interesting spots in SF Airport. Whilst for your trip back, hmmm, I think you should check with the agency you sold the ticket (if you bought it from an agency), if there as any chance you can change the ticket for a later flight to London (even if it's not direct) I would do it, 47 minutes seems almost impossible (nothing is impossible) but this is just almost :)) Wish you a safe journey and good luck. Cheers.
2 :
Your issue is with the timing of your flight from Las Vegas to Chicago, 45 mins is wait to short for transferring from a domestic to an international flight. Contact your booking agent, and see if they can get you on one of the two earlier flights out of LAS on 14/11/09 - either 11:26 AM LAS – 5:10 PM ORD (United 397) or 9:32 AM LAS – 3:19 PM ORD (United 396) At least in ORD, you will be able to get a drink and be able to relax before your final leg, instead of rushing and ultimately panicking. Flight 938, is the last flight on UA to LHR on that day, so getting into ORD earlier is your best option.
3 :
You check your luggage all the way to London. If you cannot change your flight, you will need to run fast. Since United accepted the booking, they think that you can make it but it will be tight. Especially since Chicago is notorious for all its weather delays.
4 :
I believe u don't have enough time in SF to get the LV flight. You have to do the immigration check/ baggage clearance at SF since it's the entry point to the USA. What if you have a big line(queue) in SF immigration? I don't know how far it is to T3 from T1. But I'm sure they are not very close. So it's better to get at least 2.5, 3 hours time for LV flight. Well some here says you don't have enough time for the returning flight (ORD-LHR) But from my experience you only go through the security clearance in LAS. (once i took the international flight from 10 mins after coming from another domestic flight) But it's better to check with United Airlines & make arrangements according to what they recommend. any way wishes for your b'day! & good luck.
5 :
I don't think this is unreasonable. When you arrive in SFO you could be delayed in immigration customs and security - claim your luggage here, go through customs and then recheck it. There is a special rechecking desk/area so this part is fairly quick. If you do miss your connection here then the airline will book you on the next flight. It's hard to predict what will happen. I once turned up in Washington DC from Heathrow and was through the whole process in 10 minutes but it can be much longer. For the change coming back the luggage should be checked through so you won't see it at ORD. I wouldn't expect another security check because you have already been checked into the US system in Las Vegas. If they give you a little card when you enter the US keep it and hand it back when you leave Chicago. The system has changed since I was last there but I think that you now have to check yourself out of the country on a computer terminal. 45 minutes isn't unreasonable but I would feel happier with more. If you do get stuck in Chicago go downtown to the lakeside - its much nicer than the area around the airport.

Direct flights from San Francisco to Dublin with Aer Lingus?
Is this actually going to happen or is it just hearsay and wishful thinking?
Other - Destinations - 1 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :

More likely wishful thinking, because the distance is just too long. It makes the most sense economically to stop in NY or Boston in order to refuel - and once they do that they are competing with flights that go SF-NY or SF-Boston and NY/Boston-Dublin. Long distance planes need to carry all their fuel with them, making them extra-heavy and thus expensive. Plus, not many people like to take such long trips when a break is possible.

My daughter is supposed to be collecting someone from London Heathrow tomorrow morning and she hasnt told her which terminal. We can seem to find out.... does anyone know? Please help. Thanks. Thanks for answer so far. Do you know which terminal it will be? Is that decided nearer the time? Surely not? How long is the flight from San Francisco to Madrid? In international flights do they usually have tv screens on your seats, or does that just depend on the airline? Thanks!

The flight is around 14 hours because it take 6 hours to get from San Fransico to New york and then 7.5 hours to get from New York to Madrid. The flight will most likely have tv screens on your seat because it is a long distance flight and that means it is a big plane, which are equipped with accessories that will make your flight more pleasurable since it is so long.

non-stop flight from miami to San Francisco?
Hi, i am wondering which airline flies to San Francisco from miami non-stop? I would be appreciate if you americans tell me about this...thanks guys.

1 :
Hmmm....now where are you starting from, Rahul? If you're from another country, wouldn't you want to start from there instead of Miami? It would be a lot cheaper. Call your travel agent to find this out.
2 :
American Airlines fly nonstop between MIA and SFO. For April, they have a very nice $139 USD advance purchase fare, one-way. JetBlue fly from nearby airports Fort Lauderdale (airport code FLL) to Oakland International (OAK) nonstop, only $109 one-way in April with advance purchase. A travel agent will charge you at least $25 USD per ticket to book these, and some wouldn't even know about JetBlue since this airline does not show up in all reservation systems. Best to book direct from the airline.
3 :
The only airline that flies nonstop from SanFrancisco to Miami is American. They code share flight with Alaskan airlines - so I would check both American and Alaskan ailines websites for the best fare.. sometimes one or the other is cheaper depending on the dates.

About 4 hours.
2 :
6 to 6.5 hours (I know for a fact). When you book a flight it will tell you your aproxamite arrival time.
3 :
about 5 hrs but can change from carrier to carrier.
4 :
if you are traveling with a boeing 747 it should take about 5.5 hours a smaller plane can take about 7 hours
5 :
non-stop is approx 5-6 hours, but count on losing a whole 8-10 hours of your day with an early arrival for security checks, on/off, luggage and all the delays. Flying in & out of SF is tricky this time of year - Northern California winters are all rain, rain, rain - I have 10+ years dealing with that airport and their winter weather. Have never been diverted to another airport, but have had to circle it for a long time. Be prepared for that part of it. Have a good trip!!
6 :
Average the direct flight is 8hour(with light meal) If you consider connection, then the flight time will be ~10hour or more. P/S: If you plan to travel this season(Winter or Spring), be prepare for flight delay. Try to get the early morning flight, which most of them still on schedule.
7 :
According to United Airlines schedule the flight time from Washington Dulles Airport (IAD) to San Francisco (SFO) is between 5:52 hours to 6:00 hours. UA285, UA217, UA219 & UA225 flies Boeing 757-200 with flight time of 5:52 hours. UA915 flies Boeing 767-300 with flight time of 5:52 hours. UA871 also flies Boeing 767-300 but the flight time is 5:55 hours. UA937 flies Airbus A319 for 5:57 hours and UA837 flies Airbus A320 for 6:00 hours. FYI - no non-stop flights from Washington National airport (DCA) The actual flight time might vary due to routing, weather and headwind (jetstream).
8 :
about 7 hours 30 min
9 :
The great circle distance is 2116 nautical miles. depending on speed, range of aircraft as to how much time it takes.
10 :
Well, it's 5 hours (non stop) from Los Angeles to Indiana. Too long if you're over 6' and flying cattle/cargo class.
11 :
About 8 hours (non-stop) with meal.

When is the best time to buy flight tickets to London from San Francisco

When is the best time to buy flight tickets to London from San Francisco?
Planning on going towards the end of October for two weeks. Fares were around $630 this past weekend but jumped up to $800+ on Monday. I just found out that the BFI London Film Festival is running from Oct. 14-29, during the time that I'll be there. Should I go ahead and buy the ticket now or wait another month or so in the hopes that several airlines will have a Fall fare sale to London? Also, any recommendations for cheaper European cities to fly into around that time?

Flights to London can change on a daily basis. I fly to London from US once a year and find that maybe Sept/Oct the fares are cheaper. For instance if you check American Airlines daily (direct flight) you may strike it lucky as sometimes they have a sale of fares so for now if I were you I would just keep checking. Good luck.

Should we fly first class on our flight from New York to San Francisco

Should we fly first class on our flight from New York to San Francisco?
I am planning a big California vacation for next August, and they released airfare for the dates we are traveling. We are going from JFK to SFO, driving down the coast, and returning LAX to JFK. We would like to use airline miles and have three options: Delta Coach or First (going there is a 737 which might not have TVs, which could bore the kids) or United Economy Plus on the Premium Service planes. United has no seatback TVs, just more legroom, while Delta might be updating only First Class by adding TVs----Coach is questionable. Which of the three do you recommend? We have 2 adults and 2 (11 year old) kids traveling.
Air Travel - 3 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Delta First Class. Call and check about the T.V.s...
2 :
if you can afford to fly first class why not... more leg room, big and comfortable seats... it's just 6 hours of flight... they just sleep on it.. or not... but you can also bring your own portable dvd's with your kids choices of movies they can also bring their PSP/ or what ever game pod they have... or they can even watch from their own Ipod.... if you can afford a first class seats i would think they have these things... or you can book a late flight so that they'll be sleepy and just sleep thru out the flight...
3 :
I haven't been on United, but I've been on Delta, but not to San Francisco. But in my experience, Delta is a good choice. The flight attendants are extremely pleasant and accomadating regardless of class, the seats are decent, and you might get TV. As far as economy or first class, I'd say if you have the frequent flyer miles or money, you could upgrade if you wanted to. If your flight doesn't have a TV, bring a portable DVD player with their favorite movies and cartoons. Oh, and I forgot to mention, Delta, unlike other airlines is lenient about letting coach passengers using the first class lavatory(or at least on our flight). Regardless, enjoy your travels.

Calculating Time Difference from San Francisco and Hong Kong

Calculating Time Difference from San Francisco and Hong Kong?
I seem to be having some trouble figuring a time difference problem. If a flight arrives in San Francisco from Hong Kong around noon on May 24th, what date and time would it had needed to depart from Hong Kong (in Hong Kong time)?

How fast is the plane flying? Hong Kong local time (not daylight savings) is 15 hours later in the day than San Francisco local time (which in May is Daylight savings). i.e., 2:00 am PDT San Francisco is 5:00 pm Hong Kong time the same date

NEVER TRUST EXPEDIA! I used them once and they scammed me. I used Expedia to buy tickets to a conference. When I arrived at the airport to leave for the conference, the agent said that I had a reservation, but no ticket, even though I had paid for it on Expedia.com. I called Expedia and was put on hold and none of their agents helped me. I ended up having to pay $640 (three times as much) for another ticket so that I wouldn't miss my conference. Expedia still hasn't returned my calls or emails asking for some kind of explanation. They haven't even offered any reimbursement of any kind! I did a search online and Expedia has a history of selling tickets that don't exist, which explains what happened to me. Do a search for "Expedia scam" and you'll see! Go to Expedia to see which airlines have the lowest prices, then go to the airline's website and buy the tickets straight from them. Don't use Expedia because they will just scam you.

Since you're in San Francisco you shouldn't have trouble going to travel agents to find out the best deals. Go to a few agents, and compare the prices. Alternatively, you can go to the 1st website below to compare prices online. However, you should be aware that some airlines you are about to take and the airports you're about to transit through will not be very pleasant. Check out the 2nd website below to read passenger reviews/comments about each and every airline and airport. The cheapest round trip flight stated in the first website is US$1470 including taxes and fees.
