It appears that the earlier in the month you fly, the less the cost will be, the later...the more. I mean, early in the month the price is like, 110-ish and later its like, 130.

Praying passenger removed from San Francisco-bound flight. Your thoughts

Praying passenger removed from San Francisco-bound flight. Your thoughts?
1 hour, 30 minutes ago NEW YORK - A passenger who left his seat to pray in the back of a plane before it took off, ignoring flight attendants' orders to return, was removed by an airport security guard, a witness and the airline said. The Orthodox Jewish man, who wore a full beard, a black hat and a long black coat, stood near the lavatories and began saying his prayers while the United Airlines jet was being boarded at John F. Kennedy International Airport on Wednesday night, fellow passenger Ori Brafman said. When flight attendants urged the man, who was carrying a religious book, to take his seat, he ignored them, Brafman said. Two friends, who were seated, tried to tell the attendants that the man couldn't stop until his prayers were over in about 2 minutes, he said. "He doesn't respond to them, but his friends explain that once you start praying you can't stop," said Brafman, who was seated three rows away. When the man finally stopped praying, he explained that he couldn't interrupt his religious ritual and wasn't trying to be rude. But the attendants summoned a guard to remove him, said Brafman, a writer who had been visiting New York to talk to publishers. The plane, Flight 9 to San Francisco, took off without the man. It landed at its destination as scheduled, Brafman said by telephone from his home there.

that is awful, they shouldnt kick a man off a plane, because of his religious tradition.
2 :
Hm,this is tough, from a personal standpoint,I think it's ridiculous he was removed, and it shows the state of the world. Yet,from a legal standpoint, being in a legal career, whether he was in the middle of prayer or not, there are certain rules and regulations you must adhere to in public spheres. Ex: If you are against wearing seatbelts for whatever reason, you must wear one on a rollar coaster...etc...
3 :
i dont think its completely an issue of him praying on the plane as it is that he was disobeying flight attendants orders. they cant delay the whole plane for one mans prayers! he should have done it before boarding. and yea, americans are scared and have a right to be STILL even though it's been a while since 9/11. so any man saying his "last prayer" and not looking like a stereotypical american man will be under scrutiny.
4 :
He got removed from the flight not because he was praying but because he chose TAKEOFF to do it, out of his seat. That is against the FAA rules. You must be seated and buckled in order for the plane to take off and to land as well. He should have either prayed in his seat, or held off doing so until the plane was in the air and the seatbelt sign shut off, per the rules of flying. By doing what he did, he delayed at least one flight, probably more. That is why he was removed.
5 :
He disobeyed the flight attendants orders. He put people's safety in danger by deciding be out of his seat before take off. For people to see this as prejudice is ridiculous. The man was violating FAA regulations, regardless of what he was doing. He could have been taking a crap in the back of the plane and they would have done the same thing.
6 :
In this modern age of increased security what else would this bozo expect. Everyone on the plane and other planes waiting to taxi should wait!! ANY perceived threat to a plane I was on would be graciously appreciated if it was taken off my plane PLEASE and I would expect all other passengers would think so too. What else would he expect. What a dipstick!
7 :
Those who answered before me gave me pause to think before answering... Thank you. I am a prayerful person, and would prefer not to be interrupted, because it is rude to ask for God's attention and then turn away before closing. I also know, that God is fully aware of our lives and everything that goes on in them. While it is clear that this man's beliefs held him to finish the prayer before stopping, it would have been possible for him to walk to his seat while praying. Yes? The Jewish people know, as much as any one else the God is a Loving God, who wants the best for us, and knows us individually. What worries me most is that this man waited till the last minute to say his prayers, expecting everyone else to wait on him, because he put prayer last in his priorities..... yet he would hold an airline in contempt for expecting him to follow the rules.. something not quite right about that. An individual who proclaims religious right as a reason for complaint, should follow their religion a little more closely. Had the faithful man been more attentive to his faith, prayers would have been taken care of before he boarded. We've all been there, we make a mistake, and suddenly we are up against a time crunch, and we speed down the freeway, expecting every one else to get out of the way, or we run to the elevator expecting every one else to hold it for us. Or we are in a hurry so we go to the quick lane at the grocery store even though we have 12 items not 10. Because we are human, some how, at one time or another, in a big way or small... we put our needs ahead of those of the people around us... forgetting that ours are no greater than any one else's.. and our planning (or lack there of ) is what created the situation. So, yes he should have been removed from the plane. At least he was allowed to finish his prayer before he was removed. The rules state that any non compliance has a no tolerance policy. Flight crew can not risk the safety of the passengers, or the tight air schedule for any one person. I wish the man better luck in the future, i hope that he made it to his destination, and i'm grateful that the staff stick to their jobs, even when they are made out to be the bad guy... cuz some days... like the plane in pennsylvania... we need the ones who stick to their rules.
8 :
I travel all the time. I have seen the Orthadox Jewish men praying BEFORE their flight. Usually they go into a quiet corner inside the airport to do this. I have never seen this done on an airplane before. Once onboard, every passenger needs to abide by the flight attendants instructions, regardless. It is for everyone's safety. I suspect this is not the last we will hear about this. I smell a lawsuit.....
9 :
I respect his religion but you have to draw the line somewhere. I mean really you are on a plane and start doing that you don't think an incident like this is going to happen?? With how crazy the world is even getting on a plane and to start chanting and ignoring someone of authority??? Be it a flight attendant but still you have to follow the rules. If this person would have used their brain for a minute before they started praying then this whole thing might have been avoided. I respect religions and keep my faith to myself and share it only when asked.
10 :
i think that i agree with most people here in that he wasn't removed for religion at all, but because of the simple fact that he disobeyed the flight attendant during takeoff procedures. he could have been a catholic on his knees and i still say that he should have been removed. this guy has to exercise common sense and if he's going to get on a plane and start praying and disrupting take off procedures, after 9-11, then he obviously doesn't have any. why couldn't he have done it at the airport a few mins before boarding? good call by the flight attendants and the airline. no doubt this man will probably file a lawsuit...

What is there to do from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. in San Francisco?
I have a layover flight in San Francisco tonight, I am on my way to Arizona. I have never been to San Francisco so I want to make the best of my 6 or 7 hours there. The airport is only 13 miles away so I thought it would be a good idea to at least see the city. Anyone got any ideas? Or any good places to eat near by? And keep in mind the 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. part!

Go to a jazz club. Introduce yourself to all the $3 whores who lock themselves all night every night into the big green public restroom boxes. Shake hands with all the homeless people who sh*t into the city's public trash cans in broad daylight. Take phone videos of guys butt-slamming each other in public alleyways 20 feet from traffic. Walk through all the dead chickens hanging upside down above sidewalks outside shops in Chinatown. Drink in the aroma of the homeless people who literally live in the doorway of every Starbuck's in the city. Go to Michaelangelo's Italian restaurant near Nob Hill and have some of the best pasta ever.

Sleep.

For what it's worth, Crumb is incorrect. Those are more than likely ducks hanging in the windows not chicken. As far as late night: http://www.dnalounge.com/calendar/2009/02.html http://www.elementlounge.com/concept.htm http://www.castlenews.com/ Most bars are open til 2am. If you are under 21 you may run into some problems...
4 :
you can go to the end-up, an after hours club that is very famous. they don't open until 2 or something. or you can eat at sparky's on church street. you'll have to take a cab or supershuttle into the city.
5 :
There are some clubs and bars open until 2:00. Very few places are open past that, with the exception of a few 24-hour restaurants: http://www.sfbg.com/37/30/cover_sl_778.html Edit: The End Up is open late; it's a gay club, if that makes a difference to you.
6 :
Well, most raves start then. The raves usually end around 5, 6 or 7 and start at 11 or whatever, you know? So yeah go to a good rave.
7 :
at 11pm you can go to powell (downtown) by the bart that is in the sfo airport. oh, but i think they close at 12 so you could get back by taxi. i love the powell at night because at noon its really crowded. and at night i usually sit in the union square across the macys/cheesecake factory. listening to people in the streets play jazz music or drums. its really nice and its not like its empty on downtown at that time.there are people still walking around also. you can go to chinatown.(u can walk if u want from powell. about 15-20minutes.) go to sam wo, its a noodle place open till 2am. very cheap and good noodles. go to twin peak. by car though.. its up in the mountain or hill. it has a very very cool scenery of the city. best spot to look at night. or go to the pier 39. (fishermans wharf) itll all all be closed though i think. but you can see the sea lions by the pier. and walk around the pier. its also really nice have fun!

when cheap, about $50 one way.

For March, it's $49 one way, tax included, Alaska Airlines nonstop flights LAX to SFO. There's lots of competition on this route (United, Frontier, JetBlue, American) but Alaska is slightly cheaper than all the others currently. Try to book direct from the airline, http://www.alaskaair.com/

it should not be more than $50 - one way fare - you can try - there are many website who are into this business.. pal

Met a girl on a flight to San Francisco last year....still thinking about her

Met a girl on a flight to San Francisco last year....still thinking about her....?
So here's the story...Went to SF last year for a conference and was seated next to a girl with whom I had crossed paths with in the waiting lounge at the airport. When I got to my seat she was seated next to me! We spent the next four hours chatting it up and we had a lot in common. Once at the airport in SF(she lives there) we walked together to the luggage pickup area and then awkwardly said goodbye. At that point I thought I would never see her again and left it at that. The next day I went out exploring SF(I live in Canada) on foot and stopped at a Safeway to get a bottle of water. There she was doing her groceries! Of course I went up to her and she offered to drive me back to my hotel. I proposed that we stop for dinner on the way, which we did, and then I was dropped off at my hotel and it ended there. I got an email from her roughly a month after but haven't heard since. In spite of my sending 2 or 3 messages since. What was that? Was it fate? Should I keep trying? Confused

how fast is a flight from fresno to san francisco?
or how about flying from one city to another city that is 3 hours away. How long does it usually take?
Air Travel - 3 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
The gate-to-gate flying time between San Francisco and Fresno, according to Orbitz, is between 40 minutes and an hour, depending on which direction you're flying. (The flight from San Francisco to Fresno has a longer scheduled time than the other direction, due to anticipated heavy traffic in San Francisco making the taxi and take-off time longer than leaving Fresno. They anticipate that waiting to take off from SFO will take about 20 minutes longer than going the other direction, due to relatively few flights leaving Fresno at any given time.) Given those times, the actual time in the air will be somewhere between 25 and 30 minutes -- as is shown above, though, the actual gate-to-gate time will vary based upon the airports involved.
2 :
According to FlightAware.com, the exact flight time is 50 minutes. Have a great trip!
3 :
55 to 60 minutes depending on the airlines. I live in Austin, TX so I fly directly to Dallas, TX a lot of the times I travel which is a 3 1/2 hour drive but only about 54 minutes by plane. Very convenient. For San F. and Fresno, typical tickets would cost below 400 dollars. :P

For direct flights: From O'Hare, you have 2 options, United and American. If you want Midway, book with southwest, best fare you're going to get. There are direct flights to San Francisco Int'l [SFO], or Oakland Airport nearby. Go for direct flights when you can. Stops will probably get you a lower fare, but its more tiresome. Flights usually take around 4.5 hours westbound, and 4 hours eastbound.

I fly into SFO from Auckland using Air NZ next month (Mar 2009). The flight touches down at 11:30 AM and my connecting flight to Seattle using United Airlines departs SFO at 01:50 PM. Will my make it considering factors such as 1. Fog and weather conditions typical at SFO 2. Occupy last 3 rows of a almost fully loaded 747 - time to get out of the plane 3. Queue at Immigration counter - non US citizen (alien) 4. Collection of baggage and clearing customs 5. Baggage transfer to United 6. Passing through security at domestic terminal gate for United Air NZ and United codeshare and the baggage is tagged to the final destination upon check-in. No separate ticket booking. Kindly advise.

That should be plenty of time, as long as you don't get held up at customs. Hopefully its a weekday, it'll be a little slower in the airport. Good luck!
2 :
The detail and clarity of your question lends me to believe you are a well informed traveler. You have nothing to worry about the codeshare agreement and the 2 hrs + between conections means both airlines agree that barring unforseen circumstances you will make your conection. If not they will rebook you at no additional cost. You will have to reclaim your bags in SFO to clear US customs and immigration and then give your luggage to the transfer desk for your airline then all you have to do is clear TSA. Your pilots and aircraft are trained and equiped to deal with fog etc. So sit back and enjoy your flight.

When I was there they didn't offer direct flights to San Francisco, you probably will be making a stop in Amsterdam first. http://www.yukiba.com/2174003-brisbane-australia-map.html

Maybe, but at the moment Qantas is cutting flights.
3 :
not anytime soon, IF we do get flights there they wont be for a couple of years, until Qantas gets its 787s but again this is unlikely And if you are going to SFO you WILL NOT make a stop in Amsterdam, this would be going backwards. Youd stop either in Auckland, Los Angeles or Sydney.

try www.travelsnag.com pretty new site usually really good rates. Also remember when booking an airline ticket the cheapest rates will come 6 weeks in advance and if you stay over a week end you will get a better rate. example Friday to Friday.
2 :
I see you wrote come back whenever, but approximately how long do you want to be there? A week, a month, three months? for a week's stay, returning 5/30: SJC to London-Gatwick - $645 Northwest SFO to London - Heathrow - $657 American Airlines For a month's stay up to a two months stay (I searched return June 20 and Aug 22). Delta has a flight for $850 to London-Gatwick airport. Air Canada has a flight for $880 to London- Heathrow. You will generally (not always) find the cheapest rates if you fly on Tuesday's and Wednesday's. The exception are the airlines that have a flight a week to a destination, sometimes those are in the middle of the week and sometimes on the weekend. You may also find discount deals to the Gatwick airport, which is not as close to downtown London as the Heathrow (the main) airport. You should get your ticket very soon as you are traveling in less than three weeks. Thanks!!

Check out cheapair.com or cheapflights.com Its better if you put your own information in.

Money is tight but I really would like to fly over and see him before we start school again in the fall. He is broke as well (owes his mom a couple thousand and has to save up money for his final year of university over the summer. I want to go see him for a few weeks but found the cheapest flight to be $820. I've heard people getting over their cheaper. I'm planning on being their from July 16 - August 6th. Help me please, I've never felt so pathetic in my entire life and being able to see him in a month and a half (rather than next semester when I go over for Christmas) makes life ok. I know about the travel sites but maybe someone has a connection they can share with me. Please no answers saying we should break up, I know the reasons not to be in a LDR. But I've never felt this way before :)

Where do I go from the San francisco airport

Where do I go from the San francisco airport?
My fiance and I have 12 hours between flights in San Francisco, and we're not quite sure where to go when we get to the airport, or how to get there :S What's the best way to get into the city, and where should we go? What should we do?

Take BART to the 16th Street and Mission stop. Walk over to Valencia street (one block west of Mission St.). Head south, and duck into any of the restaurants, used book stores, thrift shops, or bars. When you're done, just get back onto a BART train going south to the airport. -OR- Take BART to the Powell Street exit. Get above ground and ask directions to a Museum or good gallery in the area. Or take a cable car. Or check out the library. Have fun!
2 :
go to pier 39 and walk around there, alot to see...
3 :
Eric did a great job answering this. Nothing really to add.
4 :
You can do all the normal sight seeing such as Golden Gate Bridge, Cable Cars, Alcatraz, Fisherman's Wharf. Not to mention the hundreds of art museums and restaurants. As means to get out of the airport take the Bart! It runs through the airport. It is about $25 per person and it will take you right into downtown not to mention how fun it is to ride!!
5 :
When we went to San Fransisco a few years ago we rode the Marta or Subway into a loctaion outside of town to rent a car. It only took about 15 minutes to get there. The airport has information on the subways. After you get a car it takes maybe half an hour to get into the Bay Area, You can also check with a local bus service if you dont want to rent a car. Have Fun, be sure to go to Lindburg Street, its fun to drive down. The Naval Pier is cool too, you actually get to walk through a ship. Hope that helps.
6 :
Rent a car. SFO is only about 14 miles from the the city. Arm yourself with a good guide book (such as the "Rough Guide to San Francisco"). Try to visit the following: 1. Golden Gate bridge. 2. Fisherman's' Wharf. 3. Chinatown. 4. for extra fun, drive down Lombard street. Have one meal at the Wharf. Another in Chinatown (for example, at "Golden Mountain" restaurant). Your allotted 12 hours will go by mighty quickly. Have fun.
7 :
San Francisco is a city of many cultures. To see any part of it in 12 hours is fun. I might warn you that this city will make you want to come back. There is no way you can see the whole city in one day. Take the 29 mile drive and it will take you to all the main sites. This drive is the best way to see it. Enjoy as this is my hometown for 61 years. Keep a eye on the time as it will get away from you. Please do see it as it in its self is a wonder. Have the best vacation. PS Don't try to buy the Golden gate bridge. The cost of painting it is huge.
8 :
12 hours not too much. But you can stop by Fishman's wharf and Chinatown. And take a Taxi back to the airport.
9 :
BART is your best way to get out of SFO. there's a terminal right in the airport & takes you directly to downtown sf. i probably wouldnt rent a car just because you're only there for 12 hours. the renting & returning of the car might take up even more time that you don't have. if you do bart, it d be hard for you to see the golden gate (on the other side of sf), but you can go shopping downtown sf (union square), go to fishermans wharf, & maybe chinatown.
10 :
I agree with the suggestion to take the metro/subway. It's safe and relatively fast (about 35 minutes for the city center). The station is inside the International Terminal. Simply follow the "To BART" signs once you've landed. For such a short stay (12 hours), you really don't want to waste valuable sightseeing time going over contracts and waiting at the car rental offices...only to emerge from the airport hours later to the tune of bad traffic. Places to go: - Colma Station is interesting as it is next to the huge cemetries of San Francisco. When the city decreed that no burials would be allowed Downtown anymore, this is where all the corpses went. - 24th Street Station and 16th Street Station is the Latin Quarter of San Francisco. It's home to the oldest structure in the city (Mission Delores Church, 1776). Also good for cheap eats and all manner of Mexican streetlife. - Civic Center station is a major transfer point for the streetcars. Take the N-Line for the awesome (and completely artificial) 1,000 acre Golden Gate Park, with its many gardens, museums, and other attractions or all the way to the end to the beach. Or hop on the K, L, or M Lines for Forest Hill station, where you can try to scale Twin Peaks (be careful if you want to do this one... the two-mile trek is a lot more painful to hike than it seems, although you'll be rewarded with the million dollar view of the skyline below. Of course, you could always cheat and call for a taxi). - As implied, Civic Center station itself borders the stark (and rather depressing) neo-classical government district. Home to the California Supreme Court, Federal Appeals Court, City Hall, and various bureaucracies such as the local FBI office. It's actually far less interesting than it sounds. There's very little public access (since 9-11, the public have been told unambiguously to 'get lost'), and many homeless hang around outside the buildings under the wary eye of security guards inside. The only thing worth lingering here for is the excellent Asian Art Museum. - Powell Street station is in the heart of San Francisco's high-end shopping district. It's physically connected to Nordstrom and Bloomingdales, and two blocks away is Union Square (Macys, Saks, and Neiman Marcus). There's a helpful Tourist Information office next to the station's lower level entrance. A branch of MOMA is nearby. - Embarcadero station is next to the waterfront. From here, you can do the farmers' market in the Ferry Building, walk to ballpark, board a ferry for wealthy, scenic Marin County, or take the F-Line streetcar to Fisherman's Wharf. - Berkeley station is, of course, underneath the world-famous university. It's a fun and relaxing neighborhood, with lots of cafes, shops, and low-key places to go.
11 :
Go to ghirradeli square, there is a restaurant and the view is amazing
12 :
Just catch the Bart train and hang out around Downtown but be sure you return to the airport on time. There's a lot of traffic around the bart stations

What is the flight path between San Francisco to Taipei

What is the flight path between San Francisco to Taipei?

Air Travel - 3 Answers

1 :
mostly it is direct . I have not heard any flights that connect to go to Taipei
2 :
This is a direct flight across the pacific ocean.
3 :
I expect the flight path to be that you fly towards Seattle and curve around Alaska, then fly past Japan and the Sakhalin Islands before arriving in Taipei. When we flew EVA Airlines from LAX, we flew towards SFO and curved around Alaska, then past Japan. We did not just fly across the Pacific Ocean.

No commercial flights were operating at that time. The only flighta flown by commercial airliners at hat time were "care team" flights. These flights departed from United's and American's main hub (Chicago and Dallas). Onboard these flights, were specially trained counselors, union representatives and other airline officials. Family members were not transported by air att hat time. They may have found other means to get to the crash sites.

Please help me to find the answer, I am planing to have a visit in Vancouver, Canada, and will take flight from San Francisco. Just to stay 5 days for sight seeing, I am not a U.S. citizen, but a permanent resident. Do I need a Canada Visa to enter Vancouver? Thank you! I am from Taiwan. My passport is issued from Republic of China (Taiwan).

Nope as long as you're a green card holder. But to make sure of it call the airline first because they have some changes sometimes. I used to work with the airlines before and it's not required. Call the airline office to make sure
2 :
what country are you from? Check with Canadian Immigration. Here's a website that might help you. http://www.canadaimmigrationvisa.com/visatype.html
3 :
No, you do not need a visa to go anywhere in Canada because you are a permanent resident of the USA and you possess a green card which I assume is not expired.
4 :
if you have a valid green card you do NOT need a Canadian visa to visit Canada. (This is so UNFAIR because Canadian PRs DO need visas to visit USA - unequal rules from the BULLY USA). You only need your original passport and your valid green card to visit Canada

Flights from San francisco airport to Chicago then to Uk. What happens to luggage

Flights from San francisco airport to Chicago then to Uk. What happens to luggage?
Hi been reading answers to questions about flying into Chicago from uk and about connections and luggage and these were really helpful. I am flying back from San Francisco into Chicago with United then onto UK with BMI. How does the luggage thing work then? Will I have to collect at Chicago or will it be booked through? Also do I have to go through customs again at Chicago or will this be done at San Fran right through to UK? Thanks
Air Travel - 2 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
if you are flying United all the way your luggage should be transferred automatically to the other carrier since both airlines are in the same airline Alliance so you wont have to worry about your luggage till you arrive in the UK and have to clear their customs if you are flying from San Francisco to Chicago and onto the UK this is consider a domestic flight so there is no customs involved here hope this helps
2 :
You should be able to receive both boarding passes at SFO and have your luggage forwarded all the way through to the UK since United and BMI are both Star Alliance members. Also, unlike many other countries you will not have to clear customs or immigration when departing the US for an international destination, you will most likely have to clear security for a second time in Chicago when transferring to your international flight. Have fun.

Mountains on Flight Route From San Diego to Seattle

Mountains on Flight Route From San Diego to Seattle?
Hi, A while ago I took a flight into San Francisco and we had to go over Mt. Shasta, and I really got uncomfortable. I'm looking to fly from San Diego to Seattle at some point in the future- does that include flying over any big mountains? Thanks!
Air Travel - 4 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Yes. You can use a thing called a map to see exactly which ones.
2 :
there are a lot of mountains and mountain ranges between that area. No big deal. The pilot will do everything possible to avoid hitting a mountain......that I can guarantee. It is done everyday all over the world. No need to worry.
3 :
The tallest mountain in the lower 48 states is Mt. Whitney, at about 14,500 feet, near the CA, NV border. Airplanes routinely cruise between 25,000 and 35,000 feet high. That puts a minimum of almost 2 miles between you and the top of the tallest mountain. Airplanes fly over mountain ranges thousands of times every day. Think about all of the flights from the west coast to anywhere from Denver on east. They all have to go over the Rocky Mountains. Happens all the time and nothing bad occurs. Personally, I think it is very interesting to fly over mountains. The perspective is unique and the features that you see are totally different than a map.
4 :
The most common route from San Diego flies over the water to Santa Catalina, then turns towards Los Angeles and continues north over low hills and mountains in SoCal. From there, it flies mostly over flat land until it gets about as far north as Lake Tahoe, where it flies over some low mountains again (9000 feet or so). It continues over that kind of terrain up past Crater Lake and stays over medium-sized mountains until it enters the Seattle area. All of these mountains are medium-sized, the highest along the route being around 9000 feet, which isn't very big. Since the airplane is typically flying at 34,000-38,000 feet on this route (a mile higher than Mount Everest), the mountains are far below. The route takes the airplane about 15 miles east of Mount Shasta, but it doesn't fly over the mountain (Mount Shasta is 14,000 feet high, so it's a big mountain, although still miles below the airplane). So you'd get a good view of Mount Shasta from a distance, but you wouldn't actually be flying close to it.

People who have been to San Francisco International Airport before, can you please give me some advice

People who have been to San Francisco International Airport before, can you please give me some advice?
I will be in the San Francisco area later this month and I need some help in figuring out exactly when I need to leave the Oakland area where I will be staying so that I can make it to the airport in time to head out for the airport on the day that I will fly out to come back to Central Florida (the day I leave will be a Monday). So here goes... My flight leaves San Francisco International Airport at 11:35 AM and I need to get to the airport in time to be able to return my rental car to the Hertz counter, get from the Hertz counter to the main terminal, make it through security, and get to the boarding gate. Also, I already have my flight tickets and I will only have a carry-on bag, so I do not need extra time to go to the check-in counter and luggage counter. So with all of that in mind, what time do you think I should leave the Oakland area? I was thinking around 9:30 AM, but I don't want to leave way too early...
Air Travel - 2 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
You don't say what airline - or whether it's international or domestic travel...so I will assume domestic. Almost all domestic airlines require at least a 60 minute checkin. Most suggest at least 90 minutes due to LONG LINES. You may have your tickets and no checked luggage - but you still have to get a boarding pass. Unless you are flying a carrier that has kiosks, you will need to stand in line with everyone else to get that boarding pass. Then, you must pass through security. Again, depending upon the carrier and the terminal you are flying from, the lines can be very, very long and it can take a long time to get through everything. Once you arrive, by car, at the San Francisco airport, you should allow 1 hour to get to the rental car agency, return the car and take the tram to the terminal-that's if you just drop the car and take the receipt. If you have to go to the counter to turn in keys or take a rental car van to the tram, you will need to add more time for that - at least another 30 minutes. Then, there is the traffic between Oakland and SFO. I-80 is a mess most of the time with long lines for bridge tolls. Highway 101, the road that passes the airport presents it's own problem once you are on the San Fran side of the bridge. Traffic backs up as everyone is jostling to be in the correct lane for where they are going. Then, once you are on 101, the traffic again can be murderous. If I had an 11:30AM flight, domestic, I would be AT THE CAR RENTAL AGENCY no later than 8:00AM.
2 :
9:30 sounds about right, it'll take close to 30 minutes from OAK to SFO under ideal traffic conditions. Shouldn't be any rush hour traffic by then either, so I'd go for 9:30AM or slightly earlier, just in case.

You only have two choices: get a US visa, or change your tickets so you don't fly through the US. It seems very unlikely that you can get a US transit visa in four days, so go back to the travel agent and find out how much it will cost to change your ticket so you're routed via Vancouver and Korea or China.
2 :
Please, just stop to ask bullshit questions. In real life no airplane company would have transported you to Canada for a connecting flight to the United States if you would not hold a valid visa for the United States.. I suggest you take the same way back as you have allegedly taken to get to Canada..

Well you will have to probably connect either in Chicago or NYC to get a non stop flight to Warsaw on LOT Polish Airline or then in a major airport in europe like LHR, FRA, AMS, CDG. From SFO to CHI/NYC is 4hrs/6hrs respectively then from CHI/NYC to WAW is 9 to 10 hours. That is time in the air minus the 1 to 2 hour atleast for connecting. You can look at a travel time of 16 to 20 hours total. Just a tip - I hear that LOT is not that great. Your probably better off flying British Airways via London (LHR) or Lufthansa via Frankfurt (FRA)

Then go to each airlines website (just type the name of the airline in your search engine) and check the costs there. It's better if you book through the airlines. Southwest generally has very good prices, so check them first. Finally, while you are looking, check flights from any Bay Area airport that will work for you (SFO, Oakland, San Jose (SJC). If you can use one of them, it might be cheaper. Good luck!

Your best bets would be either Southwest airlines or Virgin America airlines.

There are no flights offered directly from San Fran to Cancun, by the way you cann't fly into Tulum directly, you fly into Cancun. To answer the question of flight time you have to make 2 flights, depending on what airline you fly, you either stop in LA or Phoenix, Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, Mexico City, etc... but the two flights combined with a moderate lay over it is about 7hrs and 35mins, if it were a direct flight it would be about 5hrs and 45mins rough estimate based on milage.
