im pretty sure there are no direct flights to nicaragua from the united states so it would depend on lay overs and what not. assuming you could get a direct flight there it would be between 5 and 6 hours.

I would try www.ytbtravel.com/gordonsa they seem to have cheap rates for tickets. I never been to Rio. But I use them for trips to Hawaii and England all the time and they seem to always come out cheaper Good Luck with your search

There used to be LA Rio direct, not anymore. AA and United should be the cheapest, SF > Mia > Rio or SP. Or SF > Atlanta > Rio with Delta. But bear in mind the flights are expensive.

The best seat for any flight of that location is undoubtedly a window seat. This way you can lean up against the side of the plane to sleep.
