About 16 -- a little more if the jet stream is blowing hard (it's against the wind the whole way), a little less if the jetstream is mild. The return trip is only about 13 hours on average, 'cause it's with the wind :)

Actually a direct flight is 13 hours from San Fran into Auckland.

13 hours. The non-stop flight from SFO to AKL on Air New Zealand is great. The plane is very new and the entertainment is fab...plus, they serve really good wines on the flight.

What is the lowest price I can get on the flight from San Francisco, CA to San Jose, Costa Rico
What is the lowest price I can get on the flight from San Francisco, CA to San Jose, Costa Rico?
Looking up online I found $444 now, but kayak.com also shows that it was $408 few days ago. I also see that few agencies sell vacation packages, including air and 4 night hotel from SF to Costa Rica, for $499. This mans that air price should be much less than $400. So what is the lowest price I can expect and how to get it?

When do you fly to Costa Rica? . I just checked for instance early February (departure on Feb. 2, return on Feb. 9) and I got a return ticket San Francisco - San Jose at US$ 278 , incl charges and taxes at Travelocity. there are quite a few sites that you can search that will likely give you the best prices available. check out the website BookMe and you will be able to compare prices on all the reputable travel sites in just a couple minutes. it's very convenient and will save you a bunch of time and money. since there no nonstop flights you will have to change planes somewhere the faster is 13 hours on Lufthansa and coming in at 14 hours with air France

I did a quick search and was unable to find a non stop flight from San Francisco to Prague. So, you'd likely have at least 1 layover - where you fly first and how long your layover is alters total travel time. I found trips from 16 hours all the way to 24 hours.
