where do i find a cheap flight from San Francisco to San Diego on 3/23?
never taken a plane before so i'm not sure where to look for good plane ticket deals

Try Southwest Airlines.

If you go to www.expedia.com and put in SFO (San Francisco) and SAN (San Diego) for March 23rd, it will tell you all the airlines that fly that route, except Southwest. Then go to each airlines website (just type the name of the airline in your search engine) and check the costs there. It's better if you book through the airlines. Southwest generally has very good prices, so check them first. Finally, while you are looking, check flights from any Bay Area airport that will work for you (SFO, Oakland, San Jose (SJC). If you can use one of them, it might be cheaper. Good luck!
